It is named as such because of its stark white marble appearance. The distinct rock formation is the centerpiece and namesake for the Marble Mountain Wilderness.
The Marble Rim Trail, meanwhile, starts on the ridge of Marble Mountain at the junction of the Pacific Crest Trail and Haypress Trail. The trail takes hikers through Lover’s Camp, Peak 6887, a trail of flowers with notably huge butterflies, a drop towards the meadow, and a diverse collection of flora and fauna.
