About the Kobuk Valley National Park

The Kobuk Valley National Park is located 550 miles northwest from Anchorage into the deep woods and countryside. It has been considered home by early indigenous settlers dating as early as the Ice Age including the the Inupiaq Eskimos and the famous woolly mammoth and caribou. In fact, many fossils were discovered in this site. Aside from this, its fame for its Arctic history paved way for becoming a national park. The park is within the vast 1.8 million acre Kobuk Valley that can be accessed by visitors all year round. Depending on the season, you will need to bring the correct outfit and materials for you to be able to hike, boat, fish. You can hike or go by snowmobile during summer and skis or snowshoes during winter.
