Located in the Alum Rock district of San Jose California, Alum Rock Park is the oldest municipal park in California. Founded in 1872, the said park is located in the Diablo Range foothills on the east side of San Jose. It is a 720 acre park offering 13 miles of trails ranging from fair leveled to sharp switchbacks going to the ridges of the North and South Trim Trail.

The valley features a visitor center, a museum, playgrounds and picnic areas, activity areas, mineral springs, and a variety of lush plant life. The park also serves as a good camping ground. Some of the trails in the area are part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Moreover, the Todd Quick Trail connects with the Sierra Vista Open Space Reserve located in Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority.
