Running parallel to the San Francisco Bay Trail Emeryville to Richmond Segment is the Aquatic Park Trail, the Aquatic Park Trail is a hairpin-shaped route that travels through Aquatic Park and around a small lake. Aquatic Park, meanwhile, is located at Bolivar Drive, at the foot of Bancroft Way in southwest Berkeley.
The Aquatic Park was built in the mid-1930’s as part of the Berkeley Waterfront Project, simultaneously with the Berkeley Yacht Harbor. The construction was spearheaded by the Works Progress Administration and serves as an exciting venue for aquatic activities such as rowing and boating. The park prides on its artificial mile-long lagoon centerpiece which has been used by the Berkeley Paddling and Rowing Club as well as the Berkeley Water Ski Club.
