The trail is a .6 mile loop, wide, well-indicated, and has countless opportunities for great snaps. The hike starts with a steep downhill but flattens out the rest of the way. The trail’s location is out of sight from the usual tourist routes and busy highway, elevating the intimacy you have with nature and it’s rhythms leaving you into an exceptionally peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.
However, some traffic noise may subtly be heard for its approximately a quarter-mile away and sometimes worsens during weekdays or when it is winter, where trees are not able to prevent the noise.
Stout Grove has one of the most picturesque displays of redwoods where you can admire all of its glory, especially on a sunny afternoon. Some mosquitos may be present in the summertime, so a bug repellant is recommended.
Overall, it is a quick hike with lush greenery and is exceptionally peaceful.
