One of the sure-fire ways to explore Marble Mountain Wilderness is a walk through history on the Kelsey National Recreation Trail. The trail takes hikers through a waterfall, a US military post at Fort Jones, settlers in Scott Valley, and to the coast at Crescent City. The trail also takes hikers through Kelsey Creek. Other trails that intersect with the Kelsey Trailhead include the Pacific Crest Trail and the Paradise Lake Trail.
The trail features a streamside trail, an overview of Paradise Lake basin, a walk through Kelsey Creek and Scott River, Maple Falls, meadows and wildflowers, and a trail intersection with the Pacific Coast Trail, with Red Rock and Bear Lake close by.
