In Humboldt Redwood, the Founders’ Grove is popular for its convenient location being next to a Highway 101 off-ramp on the Avenue of Giants. This trail is also a major North Coast redwood attraction. It offers a breathtaking view of fallen trees along with the stunning standing trees and abundant fern groves.

But as it is next to the road, the roar of passing vehicles may lessen the quality of your experience. To really appreciate the remarkable beauty of this place, you should go around 8 in the morning or in winter, when the traffic is more subdued. The Founders’ Grove is one of the most iconic of all redwood groves in the area.
