Sunset State Beach
Location: Santa Cruz County, CA
Features: Sunset State Beach features sand dunes, pine trees, and Oceanside picnic spots. It’s not just a great surf spot. Its scenic beauty makes it a wonderful place for the whole family to visit. The area is bordered by big agricultural fields between the cities of Monterey and Santa Cruz, and it is a year-round tourist hotspot for thousands of people, both inside and outside of the state. There are shells everywhere, and it’s fun to go picking through them to find really unique ones.
Beach: You can drive through Watsonville strawberry farms to find the beach, and it is quite enjoyable. It costs $10 to park there, but there is plenty of parking. You have very easy access down to the beach from the parking area. The sand is warm, the water is clean, and it is a lot more scenic and beautiful than other mainstream beaches. There is miles and miles of space, and there are even fire pits. The place doesn’t get too crowded, but it is crowded enough to where you’d feel safe, especially in the summertime when people are traveling. There are bathrooms, but they are located near the parking area.
