Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, it is one of the most visited park in the Unites States. The park is managed by the National Park Service and covers an area of 748,436 acres and sits in four counties: centered in Tuolumne and Mariposa, extending north and east to Mono and south to Madera County. It is famed for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall, the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome.

Yosemite National Park is also one of the largest and least fragmented habitat blocks in the Sierra Nevada, the park supports a diversity of rare plants and animals. It contains five major vegetation zones: chaparral and oak woodland, lower montane forest, upper montane forest, subalpine zone, and alpine.
