Location: Alameda County, Fremont, CA
Difficulty: Moderate
Features: Hiking trails, bird watching, horseback riding, dogs allowed, incredible scenery

A more peaceful backcountry alternative to the Hidden Valley Trail, the Horse Heaven route to Mission Peak is an adventurous trail with steep sections to the summit of Mission Peak. It is a less traveled route and is often avoided because of its steep terrains. On the other hand, it provides a spectacular view from the top.

To access this trail, start from the main trail to Mission Peak. However trail away onto the Peak Meadow Trail. The path descends a little and passes through cow corrals before going to a steep climb. The scenery improves as you reach Horse Heaven.
