Manresa State Beach

Manresa State Beach

Manresa State Beach

Location: Santa Cruz County, CA

Features: This destination is amenable to surfers of all experience levels. There are very few surfers during the week, but it can be kind of crowded on the weekend. The only danger here are the rips / undertow. If you want to catch the best waves, just watch the currents. You will catch the best waves if you learn to master the currents.

Beach: To arrive here, go from Highway 1, and take the La Selva Beach or San Andreas exit. Different roads will get you to the surfing areas. There are different spots, so just take a chance on a new break. There is just the right amount of people here so that everyone can enjoy their own space. It really is an excellent spot to surf, since it offers some reprieve from all the people in town. You might see some crowds, but it never gets terribly crowded, and there is nothing to worry about during the week. Just walk along the beach until you find a spot of your own. This is a solid spot to surf, and it will be pretty reliable day after day.

Top 3 Adventure Hacks

1) Go on a weekday

If you want to avoid crowds, the best days are on a weekday!

2) Stay Dry

A fast-drying microfiber towel is always convenient when you go to the beach.

3) Bring a waterproof power bank

If you’re the type who can’t seem to put your phone down even when you’re at the beach, be prepared if you get a low battery. You would need a waterproof power bank when you’re near the sea.
